SERVER-WEBAPP -- Snort has detected traffic exploiting vulnerabilities in web based applications on servers.
SERVER-WEBAPP PHP malformed quoted printable denial of service attempt
This rule looks for potential exploitation of the php_quote_print_encode function against PHP5.3 before 5.3.26 and PHP5.4 before 5.4.16.
What To Look For
This rule alerts when a heap-based buffer overflow exploitation attempt is detected which affects PHP5.3 before 5.3.26 and PHP5.4 before 5.4.16.

MITRE ATT&CK Framework
Technique: Network Denial of Service
For reference, see the MITRE ATT&CK vulnerability types here:
Buffer Overflows occur when a memory location is filled past its expected boundaries. Computer attackers target systems without proper terminating conditions on buffers, which then write the additional information in other locations in memory, overwriting what is there. This could corrupt the data, making the system behave erratically or crash. The new information could include malicious executable code, which might be executed.
CVE Additional Information
CVE-2013-2110Heap-based buffer overflow in the php_quot_print_encode function in ext/standard/quot_print.c in PHP before 5.3.26 and 5.4.x before 5.4.16 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted argument to the quoted_printable_encode function.
