Sourcefire VRT Rules Update

Synopsis:

The Sourcefire VRT is aware of vulnerabilities affecting the Ingres database server and the MIT Kerberos Authentication Daemon.

Details:

Ingres Database Buffer Overflow (CVE-2007-3338):
Ingres Database suffers from a programming error that may allow remote attackers to overflow a fixed length buffer and execute code on a vulnerable system.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified as SID 12027.

MIT Kerberos Administration Daemon Buffer Overflow (CVE-2007-2443):
MIT Kerberos kadmind suffers from a programming error that may allow remote attackers to overflow a fixed length buffer and execute code on a vulnerable system. The error occurs in the RPC library and affects any product using this code.

A rule to detect attacks targeting this vulnerability is included in this release and is identified as SID 12027.
