This release contains a number of rule modifications and new rules in the netbios and exploit rule categories.

Details:

The Sourcefire Vulnerability Research Team has done significant work to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of attack detection.

Multiple rules were added or modified to reduce the possibility of false positives and to enhance detection.

Warning:

Sourcefire VRT rule packs often utilize enhancements made to Snort. Operators should upgrade to the latest revision or patch level for Snort to ensure these enhancements are available before using these rules.
