barnyard failes connecting to mysql on boot

hi i have setup a snort 2.6 + barnyard + central mysql on ubuntu 6.06
im using a startup script for snort and barnyard.
when barnyard is activated during boot it always fails saying it can't connect to mysql database (113) ... but after boot i have no problem starting it manually ...
any ideas ??

Is barnyard starting before mysql does?
My guess is mysql isnt all the way loaded, or is later in line after barnyard.

im running mySQL on a different server that gets alerts from several sensors ...
i saw that in an old thread someone put a sleep before barnyard starts ... but thats not a soultion ....
