How to install Snort in Linux FC5

Hi all
any one can teach how to install snort in FC5...
and how can I build up a console to send alert via e-mail?

You can easily install snort with the RPMs on this page's download section. You'll have to follow the user guides o onfigure it properly.
As far as alerting, SnortNotify is OK. I personally wrote my own alerting app. |

Here is a doc i wrote to install snort on FC5. It includes copies of the snort.conf and acid_conf.php files. Also how to manually create the acid tables in the snort database if the acid script fails.
