how to configure to send alerts through email

hi, i am using snort as NIDS
configure BASE
i want automate the sending alerts through email
how can i do this,....... please reply if anybody know

SnortNotofy will do it, but there is a huge bug that I told them about and hasnt been fixed. So I wrote my own (part of my PIX-shun app I also wrote). |

as i know you can log to syslog and then mail with SWATCH. I haven't tried it, but it is what I plan to do...
