Snort Intrusion Detection and Prevention Toolkit Book Review

Posted by Just1nT1mb3rlak3 on May 11, 2007 10:03:08

First of all, the book is very well written and provides a lot of useful information for IA professionals. However, one thing needs to be cleared up about contributing author Joel Esler's actual role while employed at the Regional Computer Emergency Response Team. First, Joel was not a "DIRECTOR" of anything. As a contractor, not a government employee, he was merely a section lead. As far as the IDS that he "DEVELOPED", he merely installed BASE in order to provide a front end to SNORT. We all know that we like to make ourselves appear more important that we really are, but please, this was just way too much.
