hello and help

hello all

i am trying to install snort on windows xp

i have running correctly, i just am not able to figure out why i am getting no alerts.

i have added the line "
alert tcp any any -> any any (msg:"TCP traffic"; sid:1000002;)"

to the bottom of the snort.conf file and am still getting no results
have read seveal config sections of different howto's they all say about the same thing, and it doesnt seem to be working

was wondering if anyone else had this problem, and how it was fixed...

if not... any pointers on were to look would be nice because im running out of ideas

was running snort -dev -i2 last week, now it no longer works.
I'm thinking that Microsoft updates have blocked SNORT from operating. (Very weird)

What's the error you are getting?
