Why does my Snort not read Packests?

Hi
I am a final year student in QueenMary university of london. my final year simulation consists of using snort. i have downloaded snort 233 and winpcap 2.3 in windows XP SP2. As i run this on windows in NIDS mode and then press Cotrol and C to stop NIDS it says there have been no packets analyzed, although i have performed a port scan using another computer which is connected by a switch.

Please can you tell my why my Snort does not read any Packets. Thank you

Try and specify the interface that Snort should watch. (-i switch)
