I'm having problem starting snort service in my windows 2003 server. When I start snort it gives me error message Error 1067.Process terminated unexpectedly. I went to event viewer and the application log said that unable to open rules file: f:\snortapps\rules/.rules or f:\snortapps\etc\f:\snortapps\rules/local.rules.
I set my var RULE_PATH f:\snortapps\rules

can anybody pls help me out.

finally I solved the problem. I didn install the snort rule
